Becoming a Member of the NBPL
Anyone who lives, goes to school, owns property, or is employed
in North Bergen or Guttenberg, is entitled to a library card from the North Bergen Public Library.
A library card will be issued free of charge upon the presentation of two (2) acceptable
forms of identification (driver's license, phone/electric bill, lease etc.) with
a proof of residency.
A signature of a parent or guardian is required for children.
The North Bergen library card will be honored in all Hudson County and BCCLS libraries.
Borrowing Guidelines
Adults may borrow up to 6 books, and children up to 5 books at a time. However,
only 2 of those books may be on the same specific topic. Most books circulate for
a three week loan period. New adult books-clearly labeled 7-Day books, may be borrowed
for one week. Circulating materials that are not in the library at the time requested
by borrower may be reserved for the price of a postal card.
Fine for materials that are not returned when due are: $1.00 per day for videos
and $.10 per day for other library materials. The cardholder is responsible for
all items borrowed on the library card.
